Over two years ago, when I started my YouTube channel with my friend and former newspaper associate Howard Appell, I had pretty much given up on the future of print. “Nobody reads anymore,” I remember telling Howard, “the future is video.”
I may have been a little premature on that. In the last few years Substack has grown to become a very valuable part of my life. Not through my own meager efforts, which have not found much of an audience, but because my inbox is filled daily with great articles from the 30 or more Substacks I subscribe to.
Unfortunately I can only afford to be a paid subscriber to a few of those, but I appreciate that most authors allow us to read for free and also read and make comments, where some of the most interesting debate around occurs. Substack seems to be the last refuge of free thinkers. Here are a few of my favorites:
Two of the ones I subscribe to are Dr. Robert Malone and Dr. Peter McCullough, both of whom have been leaders in reporting on the vaccine controversy for the past 3 years. Dr. Malone also sends out a collection of memes twice a week on Fridays and Sundays, many of which I have stolen for my own use.
Dr. Malone, a pioneer of RNA vaccination technology, has been warning us that the technology was not ready for prime time for some time. He also has been a leader in explaining the 5th Generation Psychological Warfare that is being waged against us by our own government and a murky cabal of international evil doers.
In that regard, he frequently re-posts other relevant Substacks, such as that of Mattias Desmet, the Dutch psychologist who explained how entire populations were brainwashed during the Covid lunacy.
Dr. McCullough is a cardiologist from Texas who was also very early in warning of the dangers of the Covid Vax and was a pioneer in seeking out less dangerous alternative treatments. For all his trouble, like many others, he was hounded out of his medical practice and his position in academic medicine. He has served as an expert witness in many lawsuits and in front of state and federal legislative committees, for which I am eternally grateful.
Dr. McCullough has a partner in the Substack, crime writer John Leake. John likes to do investigative pieces on such events as the Maui wildfires and the Baltimore bridge collapse. Together they call their Substack “Courageous Discourse.”
The other Substack that I actually pay for is that of University of Tennessee Law School Professor Glenn Harlan Reynolds. Glenn is the founder and Majordomo of the Instapundit blog which as been entertaining me for over 15 years.
I subscribe to his Substack mainly in gratitude for his selfless efforts to provide a free service that has become such a big part of my life. He holds an Open Thread every night of the week at 9:30 pm, where fellow Instapunditeers argue the night away, sharing memes and links (and pictures of cats on “Caturday” nights!)
Now for some of my favorite Substacks that I freeload on:
Attorney Jeff Childers sends out a daily column on current events that I have found to be an invaluable way to start the day. It is called “Covid and Coffee.” Jeff is involved in much of the post-Covid litigation around the country and has great insight on the issues surrounding that.
At this point I should probably also mention Attorney Robert Barnes who is also involved in many freedom lawsuits through his 1776 Law Center. I don’t know that he has a Substack, but I do subscribe to his Locals site that he shares with former Montreal litigator Viva Frei. Together they publish many entertaining videos throughout the week on YouTube, Rumble and on their Locals site at:
www.vivabarnes.locals.com
I also very much enjoy the Substack of Elizabeth Nickson titled “Welcome to Absurdistan.” Elizabeth is a former reporter for both Life and Time magazines back when that meant something. She specializes in very long, well-researched, in-depth takes on the state of the culture from her perch in Western Canada.
Whenever I read one of her columns I have to allot a few hours for further study of all the interesting people, places and historical trends she mentions. I was pleased to discover that, although she is Canadian, some of her roots go way back into Colonial America, where I uncovered that we are in fact distant cousins. Great work cuz!
Another lady who penetrates to the heart of the matter is Margaret Anna Alice (The lady with three first names!) who writes the “Through the Looking Glass” Substack. Ms. Alice is quite the wordsmith and has published some great anthems such as “Mistakes were not made,” her indictment of the Cabal behind the Covid crookedness.
Margaret recently gave a peek behind the curtain of Substack finances. She disclosed that she has 40,000 subscribers, but that less than 2% of those support her work with a paid subscription. Doing the math means she has about 750 paid subscribers.
At a rate of $60 per year (or $6 per month) that means she is grossing something around $45,000 a year. Of course Substack has to get their cut, and the payment processing company needs a taste, so deduct another 13% from that and she probably clears under $40K. Your mileage may vary and mine certainly does!
Check her out. She is currently running a 3rd Anniversary Special of 25% Off on a yearly subscription, bringing the price down to $45. But hurry, the offer expires April 30!
There are many other great writers and freedom fighters that I follow. I can’t write up a feature on all of them, but here are my Honorable Mentions:
Attorney Tom Renz, another freedom fighting litigator.
Medical Researcher Jessica Rose, writing as Unacceptable Jessica.
Transplanted American CJ Hopkins, now living in Germany where he has been censored and prosecuted (but so far acquitted) for telling the truth (Something that could never happen in this country, could it?)
British Comedian Andrew Doyle, perhaps better known by his hilarious alter ego Titania McGrath.
Former Liberal writer Naomi Wolf, who lost most of her NYC social circle for failing to fall for the pandemic fear porn and is now fighting on the other side of the street, where she has received a warmer reception. Her column is called, “ Outspoken with Dr. Naomi Wolf.” (Not sure what her doctorate is in!)
Dr. Meryl Nass, another disbarred Medical Doctor, who is seemingly fighting a one-woman crusade against the proposed WHO “treaty” by which the evildoers apparently plan to take over the world. She writes, “Meryl’s COVID Newsletter.” You go girl!
One medical doctor who was smart enough to remain anonymous writes under the name “A Midwestern Doctor” and his Substack reports on “The Forgotten Side of Medicine.” He has a very interesting perspective that, again not surprisingly, runs counter to the current narrative!
I also read Steve Kirch’s Newsletter, in which he works indefatigably to prove the statistical case that the Covid shots were a medical disaster. A former Silicon Valley investor, Steve has offered millions of dollars to anyone who will debate him on the issue and has, not surprisingly, found no takers.
I could go on and on, but I will just mention one more for now. Psychologist Dr. Aaron Kheriaty, MD. was fired from his position as Director of the Medical Ethics (No irony there!) at the University of California Irvine for refusing to take the Vax, and has since been a plaintiff in the landmark Missouri vs Biden case recently argued before the Supreme Court. He reports on that and other things in his “Human Flourishing” Substack including a series called, “They think we’re stupid!’
If you don’t want to be thought of as stupid, the best thing would be for you to read these great authors, and if you can, subscribe and support them!
P.S. I didn't have time to add all the links to these Substacks, but a simple Internet search will turn them up. That’s what the smart people do! And please feel free to tell me all about your favorite Substack authors in the comments!
Thank you for linking this. I will definitely check these out especially the RNA vaccine expert. And the Absurdist literature as a given
