The word “Panican” is of very recent vintage, having been coined by President Trump in a Truth Social post on April 7, 2025. Trump was unhappy about the usual knee-jerk criticism of his newly announced tariff policies. In his post he wrote:
”Don’t be weak, Don’t be stupid. Don’t be a Panican. (A new party based on Weak and Stupid people!) Be Strong, be Courageous and Patient, and GREATNESS will be the result.”
Although the reason for the post was originally tariffs, following the same advice might have headed off the recent Panic on the Right about the 12-Day Israel-Iran War, and America’s role in it.
I have frankly been mystified by how many of the analysts that I usually find to be level-headed have lost all perspective in the last view days. In that list, besides the obvious meltdown of Tucker Carlson, I would include such ordinarily stalwart observers as Robert Barnes, Viva Frei, Steve Bannon, Glenn Beck, Paul Joseph Watson and many more–even Mike Benz!
And professional influencers were not the only ones who saw disaster looming in Trump’s support of the Israelis. My Facebook feed was filled with Nervous Nellies, who had heretofore supported Trump, but for which this was apparently a bridge too far.
If they were against American involvement in another ground war in the Middle East to effect regime change in Iran, I am with them 100%. However, I never had the slightest concern that Trump would get dragged into such a calamity. He is much too smart for that!
A common misunderstanding was that Trump had run as a candidate of peace, and yet here he was dropping bunker busters. Did these people really think that Trump could get through 4 years in this crazy world without having to demonstrate America’s resolve in kinetic terms? Sometimes, that’s the only thing these savages understand.
The main fear seemed to be that we would inevitably be dragged down the slippery slope into a wider conflict, just like we were in Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq etc. It was also claimed that Israel somehow had taken control of our foreign policy, and Trump would be helpless to stop it. What poppycock!
Sure, we do have crazy NeoCons in the Republican tent who would love nothing more than to see the 101st Airborne parachuting into Tehran, (Paging Lindsay Graham!), but such a stupid idea is a non-starter in the Trump regime, despite the Fox News amplified war cries of Uber Hawks such as Sean Hannity and Mark Levin.
Trump loves to troll and therefore had to have a few posts about “regime change,” but that was about as likely to happen as Canada becoming the 51st state! This morning, post-Truce, he quickly walked that back.
It also appears that the Iranian threat to close the Straight of Hormuz was a non-starter as well. It never made much sense since Iran would be cutting their own economic lifeline if they did, and the biggest loser would be their new best buddy China. I also doubt that the much-hyped fear of Iranian sleeper cells in this country will turn out to be much of a problem either. (On this point I pray I am right!)
Today, after the announcement of a tentative cease fire, we see the furious backpedalling of those who only moments ago were all doom and gloom. Perhaps they should have had a little more faith in the ability of the man who won a landslide victory just 7 months ago to lead us through treacherous waters.
As far as setting off World War III, I am far more concerned about the situation in Ukraine than the Mideast. I refuse to believe that Ukraine pulled off their drone attacks on Russian airfields 1,000s of miles away without Deep State help.
They were obviously timed to sabotage Trump’s peace initiative, which means that there is an out-of-control faction in our own government working against our elected leaders. This is a deadly game that must be stopped ASAP!
Hopefully, the Panicans will be embarrassed by their performance in the last two weeks and will learn something from the experience. Never bet against Trump. He always wins in the end!
